Our body requires sulfur in the form of the amino acids methionine and cysteine. L-methionine is an essential amino acid that cannot be produced by the body itself. It must be consumed with food. Urine pH fluctuates naturally and is influenced by diet. Like cysteine, methionine contains organically bound sulfur, which, when metabolized, lowers urine pH.
 L-Methionine improves stone solubility, inhibits new stone formation, and enhances the effectiveness of certain antibiotics. It is also important for the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine, homocysteine, cysteine, and taurine.
